Assuming namesake determines destiny, sometimes you have to linger a bit longer upon a situation to see if the old axiom really still hold water. O.k, so what's the issue with the Shirk residence? We have our kitchen/dining/drawing space, convenient 1/2 bath with the living room all logically laid out. Nothing wrong with that. The standard private bath for the master suite and sibling rooms upstairs are all as one would expect. Pool, grill, garage, landscaping, what IS the issue? You would be tempted to think the Shirks are the exception instead of the rule until you zoom out to the big picture where, alas, you find a perfectly normal and functional piece of architectural living space sitting sadly on this large geometrical thingee with zero attention given the the Z axis. I mean the flat earth theory went out 500 years ago. A clear cut dereliction, to me, toward one-third of our existence.

Maybe though, that doesn't bother you or your sims and perhaps this fine functional home with work out despite terre firma derelictus sublimitus.
